From an idea to a successful company

The shared vision of providing optimal dental restorations at affordable prices for all patients brought the two founders of the Bremen company, Wolfgang Schultheiss and Sven-Uwe Spies, together in 2002. dentaltrade was founded on the basis of many years of experience in dental technology, marketing, logistics and customer services.

The idea of providing high-quality, affordable restorations was realised by collaborating with TÜV-certified (technical inspection agency) dental laboratories in Europe and the Far East that fabricate the restorations for dentaltrade. A team of dental technicians is responsible for the final quality control of the laboratory work in the company headquarters in the Hanseatic town of Bremen. Wolfgang Spies and Sven-Uwe Schultheiss developed a finely tuned system of logistics that covers dental practices throughout Germany and ensures short delivery times. From the very beginning the price benefits of global markets were utilized for patients without compromising German quality standards.

The concept has proved successful: since it was founded, the company has expanded and has a core workforce of 100 employees and a customer base of more than 3000 dentists and 180 laboratories throughout Germany. After several relocations due to growth, the company is now based in the "Area of Innovations", the University of Bremen Technology Park. Development of the company is set to continue: dentaltrade remains dedicated to maintaining high quality at affordable prices and offering advice and services to customers on an individual basis.

dentaltrade now and in the future

dentaltrade has continued to extend its services to patients. For example, a freecall hotline has been introduced for estimates and advice and favourable financing options for restorations have been developed. Since 2005 a highlight of the company has been a "zero tariff restoration", which enables patients under certain conditions to obtain standard restorations approved by health insurance companies without making a co-payment.

Restorations from dentaltrade are now in demand in other European countries. A dentaltrade presence was established in Austria in March 2006. This completed the first stage in a European-wide expansion of the service. Further globalization of dentaltrade GmbH & Co. KG is planned in the coming years. Initially this will involve planned expansion in Switzerland and other European countries.
